Last night before bedtime we let Toby out - like we do every night. For some strange reason he refused to come in when his name was called. I finally went out at about 10:30 last night to see what was going on in the bushes. After getting 1/2 way across the yard I heard a strange noice. I ran inside and told Matt that I thought Toby had caught something in the yard. Matt then went out with a flashlight. He came back in with Toby and told me that there was a baby mouse in the bushes! Matt had to do everything possible to get Toby inside away from the "mouse." Toby finally came inside but was not very happy! He kept running to the back door and wimpering.
This morning before work I let Toby out as usual. He basically did the same thing as last night. I had to pull him inside so I could make it to work. This afternoon Matt came home and was preparing to take Toby to a scheduled vet appointment. He called me and told me his findings...what we thought was a mouse was actually a baby rabbit. Matt got a shoebox and put the rabbit in it. So, the three of them went to the vet! The vet gave us a wildlife rescue number that we are going to call tomorrow. Since I got home I have been taking some pictures. Toby is so funny because he is very territorial when it comes to the rabbit. He thinks they are friends, and tries to get the baby rabbit to play with him! The poor thing can barely open his eyes! Look at the pictures above, and you can see what I am talking about!
